Phil agrees to go w/ Via when she asks him, but when she & Keely show up @ the Diffys' house on the night of the dance to meet him & Owen there, Phil can't take his eyes off Keely. Wizard Summary:When Phil tells Lloyd about the time capsule that H.G. Wells is burying & shows him a picture of it, Lloyd recognizes it as the time capsule that he & Barb dug up in the future during one of their romantic picnics. Realizing that this could be their ticket back home, he starts working on a note to put inside the capsule warning his future self not to rent a time machine. But since leaving the note would immediately send them back to the future w/ no memory @ all of being stuck in the past, Phil isn't too crazy about the idea because that would mean that he & Keely would have no memory of each other whatsoever. The time finally comes to put the note into the time capsule, & Phil reluctantly drops it in - but nothing happens. A flash forward to the future reveals that Owen's can of fake jumping snakes startles Barb & she spills her drink on the inside of the time capsule. Lloyd uses the note to mop up the mess & throws it away, never reading it @ all. Apparently the Diffys getting stuck in the past was just meant to be... Pim is forced to raise money for a sick rat in the school science lab, but when she discovers that he isn't sick @ all, she keeps the money for herself & even hosts a telethon to raise more money. When the science teacher & science squad demand the money, she runs. Grabbing the bag of money, she races to the time capsule & drops it inside, expecting to immediately be sent back to the future as planned. At the museum, the curator tells the class that the area where the mummies are stored is off-limits - but what better hard-hitting story for a future broadcast journalist like Keely than to sneak into the forbidden area & do a report on the mummies? Phil, meanwhile, has problems of his own. When Curtis spots one of his old cavemen buddies, Oog, in the caveman exhibit wearing a bracelet that he had stolen from him, Phil notices something in Oog's other hand: a part from the time machine that had fallen off during their trip to the prehistoric times. Using the Wizard to get past the glass & security devices in the exhibit, Phil manages to get the part out of Oog's hand w/o a hitch - until he accidentally knocks the caveman over, causing everything else in the exhibit to come crashing down. Ironically, Keely & Owen end up setting off the security alarm down in the storage room & Phil has to warn them before the curator gets there. Keely ends up getting detention for sneaking into the storage room, & is a little upset w/ Phil for ditching her, but all is forgiven when she understands why he did. Pim meets her match when the substitute teacher, Ms. Mip, foils all her pranks

Attempting to fix her mistake & bring him back down a few years, she accidentally zaps Phil, causing him to behave like a five-year old. Phil gets a hold of the New-Ager & tries zapping Keely w/ it, causing the battery to run out in the process. But when Mr. Messerschmitt returns & Pim is about to get into major trouble herself, Keely comes to her rescue, forcing Pim to give up the battery in exchange for her help. Racing back into the house, Keely zaps Nathan back to normal just in time before his mother wakes him up. An equally crushed Keely comes back to find the star in a million pieces, & Phil tries to go back in time & fix things, but each time something else happens to break the star. Director: Roger S.H. Schulman
Guest-stars:
J.P. Manoux (Curtis) Richard Tillman (Bruno) Summary:With Lloyd using Phil's room as a storage place for all his tools to fix the time machine & Barb & Pim barging in on him all the time, Phil barely gets any privacy. Phil soon learns that living on his own isn't all that it's cracked up to be, & Pim learns that having Phil as a housemate isn't so bad compared to Curtis...
