According to the Mayan calendar the current world cycle is set to end December of 2012...five years from now. Is it the end of the world? That's up for debate. There are some people who interpret the end of the cycle as signifying a time of great change instead of doomsday. For the sake of this, though, let's say it is the end of times, the death of our civilization. Pushing thru the market square, so many mothers sighing News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in News guy wept and told us, earth was really dying Cried so much his face was wet, then I knew he was not lying David Bowie - "Five Years" You've just found out life as we know it is over in five years time. What do you do with the time you have left? Would you live life differently? Take more risks? Or would you simply live as you always have, not changing a thing, and go out the same person you'd always been?

I acctually prefer not to get my hopes up over stuff like that. I mean, poeple said that we'de be living on mars by 2000
But I can see where you're coming from. And I'd just live my life as I always did.
But as for the risks, I think I've taken enough risks this week! Expedition Everest, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Test Track, ect.!
But still, I'd go on as the same person.

Well, I really don't think there's much truth to it, but for the sake of the idea, I have five years to live, what would I do? I would spend as much time with my loved ones as I could, I would try to do what I can to leave the world a better place than it was, at least morally if not physically. I would stay the same person I always was, definitely, but I would try to realize my full potential. I wouldn't want to go with any regrets, I guess is what I'm saying, but I would be the same person.

I would definitely change. I'd go out there and do everything I always wanted to, if it was 100% guaranteed to be the end of the world cycle.

Yeah, I mean obviously if the world cycle was ending you wouldn't be like, "Screw the end of the world as we know it, there's a House M.D. marathon on tonight. I'll live for today tomorrow." You'd change your habits and routine, but why would that mean changing the person you are? I would think you might just be more open with people, but are you saying you would change your entire personality?

Well, I don't think I'd undergo a complete personality overhaul, but I'm sure I'd change a good deal about myself... be less reserved, go "out there" more, the whole shebang. I don't think I'd be the complete opposite of who I am, but I would definitely be a changed person.

;D Ha ha haaa... Ah, understood. Who wouldn't change even a little knowing you only had five years to live? I've always said, if I could create one thing from the long list of scifi gadgetry it would be a time machine. And I know the very first thing I would do with it too. It's just a dream I have.

The Completely Honest Post: If I was 100% positive that the world was gonna end in 5 years...
I wouldn't change my personality or whatever, I would just do things a little differently. I would take a lot more risks than I do now. I have a bunch of money in the bank, and a credit card, so I'd just spend all the money I have to my name. I'd also rob a few banks and spend that money. I'd travel everywhere. I'd definitely finish my list of "things to do before I die", no matter what it takes. Around November 2012, I'd start having all the great, unprotected, hardcore sex I can get. No regrets. I'd probably start smoking too. And might take some illegal drugs while I'm at it.
But the main thing is my list of things to do before I die. There're over a hundred different goals on that.

Okay, Honest Abe. You know, I've never really thought about making a list of things to do before I die. Maybe I should. I'll think on that for a while. *wanders off pondering*

Just remember the next time you want to look into the future: if the computer technicians in 1974 had known that in 30 years, their research would lead to thousands of people in cafes instant-messaging each other, they would have killed themselves.

;D Maybe so. Probably would've been simpler to destroy their product, but I digress... Kinda makes you think though, doesn't it? If you had instant access to the limitless ends of time and space, how far would you go? Where would you draw the line? How much is knowing too much? And even going back to what's already been, how much would the future change with just your mere presence in the past? There are so many variables that would have to be considered, it's not as easy as taking a ride on the Magic School Bus. One of the simplest things I would do would be going back to 1980, to the Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back world premiere, and just when they're about to do the big reveal, stand up and shout at the top of my lungs, "DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER!!" and run out of there laughing like a maniac, thereby dissolving the tension-soaked build-up to one of the most shocking movie moments in history in one sentence. ;D Wow, that really says something about me, doesn't it...

So it all depends on your memory? The list is doomed.

I would probably travel far into the future, long after I'm dead, like a few hundred years. The possibility of seeing myself older is positively frightening. Or maybe I'd go back in time and do the nasty in the pasty like Fry did on Futurama...
